Happy Birthday!

I find myself rushing to get this post done before midnight so it's officially posted on today's date! Ever have days like that? Ever have weeks like that I should say? Rush, rush, rush...

Just want to wish Daddy a very Happy Birthday today! It was a very busy day for all of us and with church in the evening, we could not celebrate. Well, we did manage to go to Wendy's for dinner and celebrated by sharing frosties! But, a little party is planned for this Friday with our families and we're looking forward to it!
Happy Birthday!
Love,
Mommy, Luke & Zach

My New Perfume

this.
We are all sick right now, mostly Sonny and Zach but we all have sniffles and sneezes! As soon as the first runny nose appears, out comes the jar of Vicks! Our kitchen counter has a line-up of Vicks, Children's Tylenol, Robitussin CF, Burt's Bees chapstick and tissues. The fridge is stocked with juice and soup. I am ready to tackle this!
Thanks to what seems like never-ending snow, we (minus Sonny) have been indoors for the majority of the last twelve days and looks like we will be for another day or two. We're playing with lots of trains, having some pre-K homeschool lessons, watching some Little Bear and I'm enjoying cuddles from my sick, little boys!
Hope everyone is doing well and not battling any colds! But, if you are, try my "perfume" - it really works!

Pasta Lesson 101

In trying to become a better cook, I found this link online all about pasta; how to buy it, measure it, cook it, etc. It was helpful to me so I thought I would share! Bon appetit!

:)

Don't let this be you in the new year!

Just a little encouragement from one who has been there and is NOT going back! Some of my goals are simplicity, organization and a clean, orderly household, which includes the dreaded paperwork pile that seems to haunt me. No more procrastination! You can do it!

Christmas @ Home

These are a few pictures of our little Christmas at home with just the 4 of us. There weren't many presents to open but you can see many of the more importants gifts we have in these pictures - Jesus in our hearts, the Bible, a home, love, and each other.

Luke & Daddy

Daddy & Zach, looking a little puzzled as to why we were taking pictures instead of eating breakfast!

Mommy and her little man

Daddy reading the Christmas story in Luke 2, the most important event of our morning!

The most important of gifts to them - Thomas the Train and his friends!

I am so thankful for the wonderful we time we had with our little family. With each year, the boys understand more and it's fun to see them excited. It is also fun for us to see how the Lord provides for the extra little gifts to make each day a little more fun!

Neat Little Tips

These are some helpful tips I've found online, in emails and such. Some I've tried and some I want to when the time comes. Maybe some will be helpful to you!
*********************

Bed Sheets
After drying sheets, put both of the neatly folded sheets and one of the pillowcases in the other pillow case. The next time you change sheets, you just take out the one pillow case with the sheets and other pillow case inside. No need to look for matches!

Broken Glass
Use a dry cotton ball to pick up the little broken pieces of glass - the fibers catch ones you can't see!

Flexible Vacuum
To get something out of a heat register or under the fridge, add an empty paper towel roll or empty gift wrap roll to your vacuum hose. It can be bent or flattened to get into those narrow openings.

Reducing Static Cling
Pin a small safety pin to the seam of your slip and you will not have a clingy skirt or dress. Same thing goes for pants or slacks when wearing panty hose.

Foggy Windshield
Buy a chalkboard eraser and keep it in your glove box. When the windows fog up, rub with eraser. It works better than a cloth.

Sand Gone
Take baby powder to the beach. Keep a small bottle in your beach bag. When you're ready to leave the beach, sprinkle yourself and kids with the powder. The sand will slide right off your skin.

Measuring Cups
Before you pour sticky substances into a measuring cup, fill it with hot water. Dump out the hot water, but don't dry the cup. Next, add your ingredient (such as peanut butter) and watch how easily it comes out.

No More Mosquitos
Place a dryer sheet in your pocket. It will keep them away.

Good-bye Fruit Flies
To get rid of pesky fruit flies, take a small glass and fill it to 1/2" with apple cider vinegar and 2 drops of dishwashing liquid - mix well. The flies will be drawn to the cup and gone forever!

Get Rid Of Ants
Put small piles of cornmeal where you see ants. They eat it, take it 'home' and can't digest it, so it kills them. It may take a week or so but it works - and you don't have to worry about pets or small children being harmed.

2010

Can you believe it's 2010 already? I can remember where I was when the year turned 2000! I have to admit I'm feeling old! But, I feel better than ever in the best way possible - I feel that with each year that passes, and each year I grow physically older, I also grow spiritually stronger in the Lord! That is a New Year's resolution for every year! God is so good, I just can't put into words how good He truly is!

I want to encourage my whopping 4 followers **and anyone else that checks out my blog** to first, become a follower of my blog :) and most importantly, remember to pray and read your Bible every day! I was talking to one of my best friends this week (love you Buttercup) about how growing up in the Lord, going to church every week, praying, hearing preaching can get SO monotonous and not actually feel real. When you grow in the Lord and gain knowledge, all those things become so real and you truly appreciate them. I am so glad for the Lord's help and guidance in the past few weeks. He has given me a true understanding of changes I need to make in my life and not just resolutions, but real changes. Changes only He can make through us!

Love to all and Happy New Year!
~Mary
